Rubber Soul - Giles Martin's 2026 Remix
In this Deep Dive I explain what Peter Jackson's MAL (Machine Assisted Learning) actually does to a 1965 four-track tape — spectrogram tiles, learned masks, estimated stems — and what it doesn't do. No new performances were generated, Giles Martin and Sam Okell mixed it by hand. I also make the case I've been building toward: nothing on the outside of the packaging says machine learning or AI, and the full audio chain is not be named in plain words where a buyer can make an informed choice.
